Q:I just took the tank out of the box. When I turn it upside down there's a rattling sound from inside. It sounds like a loose screw or other part. Is this a concern?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello JohnE, thanks for reaching out. There's nothing to worry about. What you can hear is the aspirator ball inside the tank's expansion chamber. You will hear it rattle if you shake it or turn it upside down.

          Answer This Question

A:  Insinkerators use a regular 120 volt outlet. I hope this is what you are asking.

A:  Hello CStew! We're happy you've reached out to us. The amperage of the tank included in this bundle is 6.5. For your reference, here's the link to its spec sheet: https://bit.ly/437kquO. If you require further assistance, feel free to contact us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask. Thanks!

            by|May 17, 2023

A:  The amperage is the same as any other appliance other than the stove. I have it plugged in under the sink to the same outlet as the disposal. Just to add, I love this more than anything else in my kitchen, its my favorite!

A:  6.5 Amps at 115/120V. I'd calculate it at about 750 Watts. Don't run this at the exact same time as the disposal or you will probably trip a breaker.

Why Didn't I Get This Sooner?
This is the best version of this type of device we have ever had. In changing the faucet on our bar sink, we took advantage of an extra hole that was left to install this. The installation was very simple and in our case we just needed the plumber for the water line. We have tea daily and this provides instant hot water at the perfect temperature for steeping tea. We've also discovered that it speeds up any sauce or gravy making exponentially. This model is a very sleek push button design and it is a great value for the price.

                    Trim ring cracks
Less than a year of use the trim ring cracks, and unit will now be loose, the trim ring is not metal but like a chrome plastic. The 1/4 turn knob that dispenses the hot water turns hard, but now with the cracked trim ring the whole faucet is loose. Home Deport normally does not stock components to fix this faucet, will try working the manufacture, but this should last longer that it did.

Very difficult to install because of poor design
If you buy this keep in mind the tank must be located within a foot of the the dispenser. Because it has a quick connect on one of the lines it is hard to splice in an extension. They are so cheap they don't even include a nut and ferrule for the copper connection to the water supply. In my case I had to mounted it right up against the garbage disposal. Now I have to stand on my head to change the temperature. All they needed to do was make the connections 24" long. If that isn't enough, the cord wont reach the outlet -UGH! Had I known what I know now I would not have bought this. I figure it will end up in the trash can in a year anyway because it was made in China.

Hi John, I’m sorry to hear about this. When mounting the hot water tank, it should be within 16 inches or less of faucet water lines and within 30 inches or less of a standard grounded outlet. Extending the tube from the faucet to your tank is not recommended as it can cause dripping at the faucet. The nut and ferrule are part of the water control valve. Unfortunately, it would be impossible to include all the necessary plumbing parts to accommodate the various plumbing configurations our customers have. We have determined the most common parts needed and included those. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I will make note of your feedback.

Notes on replacing an older model
We had an older model of Insinkerator dispenser. We had replaced the tank three times over 15 years due to leaks, the most recent time I wasn't entirely sure leak was limited to tank so went to replace the whole thing (costs were close anyway). Which is why I've knocked a star off my review. While I chose the closest similar model for ease of install, I can't be sure it won't develop a leak too soon. I also added a water filter this time around as long as I was crammed under the sink doing the work. The entire job took me two hours but I am old(ish), fat and uncoordinated so yours will likely be faster! The fittings were very close to the old model. There are three hoses to the tank, and they are all about 16 inches long. The inlet supply is to the faucet itself, and is about 28 inches long. That was one thing I was worried about, but I had plenty of room to work with. The old tank had a bracket with tabs that went behind the tank, and the new tank had the same mounting holes but I always hated that bracket as it was hard to engage with the holes. So I just used screws to mount as in the directions. Also gave me the chance to move the tank over a bit to leave room for the filter. The existing 1/4" fitting worked fine to feed into the filter, and the filter accepts the copper inlet line directly from the head. This requires smoothly curving the copper pipe which now was plenty long. The quick connect fittings on the filter don't seem like they should be water tight- you just push the tubing in, no clamps, no twisting nothing. But so far so good, bone dry! I've included photos of mounting the filter but to be clear this was an additional product I ordered. I'd highly suggest taking advantage of all the work you need to do anyway to add the filter.

                          Great but now having issues.
This unit was installed in the house that we recently purchased. For the first four months it was working great all of a sudden it started leaking made Fossett. I was trying to find information on this product which led me here. I see some refer to this as an overflow. I’m just curious to fight figure out why it is coming out the overflow. I am unable to find any technical documents could you please provide assistance?

                            designed to fail
This is my third dispenser. After the last one failed, I opened it up and found that the failure was caused by a design error. The small tubing that returns hot water from the valve was made of low temperature vinyl tubing that is not intended for the temperature conditions in the dispenser. The tubing had turned dark, was brittle and had cracked open. The tank was fine, so I replaced the tubing with silicon tubing (designed for high temperature) and will keep the system as a spare (I had already purchased and installed the new one). I did not check the new one, so it is possible that they have corrected this design error.

                              Great Product!
This is the ideal solution for a convenient instant hot cup of tea, soup or other beverage. This is the third unit I have purchased over the past 16 years after moving from one home to another. We love the chrome styling which blends perfectly with our kitchen chrome Moen pullout faucet. One "heads up" ... this instant hot water dispenser (and others like it) don't last forever, and it will need to be replaced about every 6 years.

Works great and easy to install
Within 5 minutes of installation I was already having my first cup of tea. So convenient to have instant hot water on tap. Needed a couple of wrenches and had to purchase a 1/2 ferrule to connect the hot water pipe.

Oh How We Missed You Instant Hot Water
Our old insta hot finally lost it's battle and we had to shut it off and put it out of it;s misery. We thought we could live without another one. Guess what.... our office lasted one week before I got the "buy order" and we purchased our new InSinkEratorInvite instant Hot Water Disperser System. It looks and works GREAT!! Our office is a happier place.
