About This Product

The Rheem Performance 50 Gal. Electric tall water heater provides an ample supply of hot water for households with 3-people to 5-people. This unit comes with two 4500-Watt elements and an automatic thermostat which keeps the water at the desired temperature. A 240-Volt electrical connection is required for installation. A premium grade anode rod provides long lasting tank protection. Factory installed temperature and pressure relief valve and 3/4 in. water connections are included with the water heater for easy installation. This model has a 6-year limited tank and parts warranty plus a 1-year in home labor warranty.

          Biggest issue you will run into is the leak detection at the bottom of the tank in case it came in contact with any water during the install. It may take several days before the band is dry again and the ‘false’ positive alerts stop. The app allows you to override the alert for 24h at a time. This is a great help to support your installs remotely. I wish the override time period were adjustable.

          I ordered a water heater. It was shipped from Texas to North Dakota. I got it home and it was damaged. I called the Home Depot store in Minot. They said to bring it back. I said I didn’t want to because you’re taking another week to week and a half to get another one so I told them I would put it in to see if it leaked And they allow a discount and they said no you have to call the manufacturer not happy I did not want to be without water another week and a half. I believe I should get a discount on the product instead of replacing it.

            first one leaked immediately
            replaced my old leaking water heater with this one. as soon as my dad finished installing, and started back the water, it began leaking at the thermostat panel like crazy. had to go back to the store. was required to buy a second water heater and bring the damaged one back for a refund. extremely frustrating. home depot should reconsider these. the second one is doing okay. only been connected about an hour. we will see.

              Poor Craftmanship
              Dont know if this was out sourced to China or what, but the quality was terrible. Escutcheons were bowed as were the element doors. This was not the quality of the older model Rheem I had. Just like the other reviews, installed water heater. Got to temperature and pressure and started spewing out hot water at the element bushing as seen in the image. Customer service was good at Rheem and Home Depot is taking it back after a lengthy phone call. This issue seems common with these.

                I Do not recommend
                3yr old water heater leaking from one of the face panels, where the electrical wiring is. Warranty company said it was covered. I had to uninstall, load & transport to Home Depot. Home Depot exchanged it, I loaded new one and had it installed. Turned it on, it leaked from the same front panel.The warranty company said they would replace it as well. I was told they would cover partial labor cost and the plumber would contact me within a day. Never heard from them.

                  returned leaked from heating element
                  Once installed and filled up started leaking from heating element all over the place shooting water everywhere. They almost wouldnt replace it saying i would get a new heating element in a couple days. I refused.

                    Installed and started leaking
                    I bought this water heater today. I installed it and an hour later it started leaking from the element on top Rheem is the biggest piece of garbage there is. My previous water heater was also Rheem and it did the same thing.

                      Just what we needed
                      Replaced my leaking old 40 gal tank with this 50 gal tank. Everything lined up perfectly and I had the project done in 3 hours. I was able to take a hot shower 30 mins after installation.
