About This Product

The Kidde P3010CU is a 10-year, sealed battery, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with a voice warning system that features photoelectric and electrochemical sensing technology with Smart Hush feature. This combination alarm combines the detection capabilities of a photoelectric sensor with that of an electrochemical sensor, which is used to detect CO. When either sensor notices a potential hazard, it will communicate with the other. Depending on what is detected, the alarm will adjust its smoke sensitivity in order to better discriminate between a real hazard and a false one. This constant communication enhances the alarm’s overall performance and significantly reduces the potential for a nuisance alarm.

Highlights

  • This alarm meets 10 year legislation laws; check local building and safety ordinances for compliance
  • Lithium battery never needs replacement - simply recycle the smoke detector
  • Protection during power outages and no low battery chirps
  • Smart HushTM - Temporarily silences nuisance alarms for approximately 9 minutes and will not allow hush mode unless the unit is in alarm mode.
  • Voice warning alerts of "Fire!" when a smoke or fire hazard is present, "Warning! Carbon monoxide!" when gas is detected, or "Low battery"
  • Sealed-In Lithium Battery - Sealed-in lithium power supply; no battery replacement required over the 10 year life of the alarm. Eliminates worry about battery removal or unauthorized deactivation of alarm.
  • End of Life Hush - End of life indication can be silenced three days at a time up to 30 days to allow for alarm replacement at a more convenient time
  • Photoelectric Sensor - Smoke alarm contains advanced photoelectric sensor that may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms
  • Self Activation - Alarm automatically activates when attached to the mounting bracket
  • Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm - Smoke and CO sensing technologies work together to detect real fires faster and reduce nuisance alarms.
  • Blinking LED lights indicate when: alarm is in operation, was initiated, or is in hush mode
  • Replacement Chirp - alerts to replace alarm after 10 years of operation
  • Ensure whole home family protection by placing 1 fire detector and carbon monoxide detector on each level of your home, in your bedroom, & other locations where required by law
  • Industry experts (such as the NFPA), recommend that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fires that can occur within the home.
  • End of life hush end of life indication can be silenced 3 days at a time up to 30 days to allow for alarm replacement at a more convenient time
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detector utilizes a photoelectric sensor to detect fire hazards and sounds an 85 db alarm when a hazard is detected
  • *Check with your state and local fire and Building/Safety codes for specific information regarding smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms.

Not reliable, scary for children, pets, parents.
I have had to remove and disable THREE of these from my home in the past six months after they activated for Fire with no fire, would not reset even after cleaning and all recommendations in manual. Activated in afternoon, then at hours 9:45, 10:45, 11:45, 12:45, then disabled. Not safe, very scary.

            10 years? Nope.
After 5 years had to buy 3 new ones, when it started chirping with low battery signal in bedroom, living room and kitchen. All within 2 months. Last one on Feb. 5th. Regular house, average temps of 69 F. 5 years only for the price is too expensive. Did anybody got 10 years out of them??

Hello. 10 years, yes, and they have a 10 year warranty. You didn't have to replace them. If you have issues with our alarms again, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 while onsite with the alarms before you replace them. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. All we would be able to do is replace the alarms or replace them with something else like a fire extinguisher but if you still have these issue alarms, please call us with them in hand and we will see what we can do.

False alarms on a newer purchase
We purchased 2 of these in Sept 2022 with a manufacturer date of July 2022. They blink red followed by a beep which means replacement apparently. Thought they were suppose to last 10 years.

Hello. If the alarm wasn’t speaking and was chirping every 30 seconds instead of every minute then the unit has gone into an error mode as a safety feature. The unit has self-diagnostic circuits that test the alarm's sensors and electronics. Could this be an issue? We would be happy to stand behind the alarm. Call us with the alarms in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can figure out what is going on and get this resolved for you
                Worst alarm ever.
Bought these for all around my house a couple years ago. As with all of these other reviews that I now see, they started going off randomly bunch of false alarms. Clean them and still going off. Press hush, re triggers in a couple seconds. Re located them... Still went off. Such a waste of money for something that's supposed to last 10 year.

                  False Alarms.
Installed this and started to receive false alarms. I had it installed all within recommended areas. It is completely clean. Not dust at all. Just keeps sending out a ‘fire’ alarm. Had to disable Before purchasing I looked for a device with a long life and this one advertised 10 years. I would hope to have gotten more than 3-4 years from this device. Not great for the landfills.

Hello. Please call us at 1-800-880-6788 before you replace the alarm. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. If tiny fine dust gets into the sensing chamber, even if you can't see it, it can set off the alarm. To clean, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. Call us with the alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.
                    Very Disappointed
Alarm went off at 4:15 A.M. saying “FIRE” however we had NO fire, NO carbon monoxide, just a house of very tired people and a scared dog. I have always used Kidde alarms for as long as I can remember and now I need to replace the 1 that went off this morning and the same one that I have in my room! So the alarm only lasted 4 years but should have lasted 10 years. They are expensive!

Hello. Please call us at 1-800-880-6788 before you replace this alarm. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manual. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.
                      Do Not Buy!
Recently purchased 6 and one in hallway just woke entire house up at 12:30 am. Beeping and stating “fire” non stop. No smoke, no fire, or anything remotely close in house. It can’t be silenced and the tab in the back to shut off w screwdriver doesn’t turn. Had to break housing and destroy unit to silence. If only I’d read reviews first! Kiddie response 1 star reviews is a joke. Blaming dust, moisture, ventilation? I’ve had smoke detectors my entire life but none have ever done this! Not normal!

Hello. To turn the screwslot on the back, you do have to break the tab on the back of the alarm first. Yes, it does sounds like some dust or debris or an insect got into the smoke chamber of the alarm and the alarm mistook the debris for smoke. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, after disconnecting the alarm and removing any removable battery: hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative.

False Alarm Then Won’t Shut Off
I bought this unit in May 2020 and now on December 2021 had a false alarm at 3:25 am and would not shut off. First said fire then carbon monoxide then fire each time after that. I took it down and tried the disabling instructions on back. What a joke. Finally pried the top off with a screwdriver and cut the wires inside. There isn’t any dust, dirt or insect inside the unit. Just a malfunctioning produce. Read the other reviews on this piece of junk. Thanks for nothing, Kidde.

                            Do Not Buy!
Cliff notes: not resettable, doesn’t last. I’ve owned three of these in the last few years and all of them have failed. First one- started alarming during smokey CA fire season. Seemed legit, but there was NO WAY to turn it off or reset it. The only option you have is ”PERMANETLY DISABLE AND DISCHARGE ALARM,” as labeled on the back, at which point you have to throw your supposedly ‘10 year’ alarm away because the batteries aren’t replaceable. Second one- started alarming in the hallway when bathroom door was opened and steam from the shower set it off. Again- NO WAY to turn it off. I moved it to fresh air in front of a fan and it still wouldn’t quit. Pushing the button would only silence it for a minute and then it would start up again. Eventually I just smashed it on the ground and it finally died. Much more satisfying. Third one- in the laundry room, with the washing machine running, goes off for no reason. No smoke, no steam, no CO, but it says there’s a fire. This time I went straight to the smash it on the ground method! These were all roughly 2 years old. Do not buy. False advertising implying that they’ll last 10 years. They seem to be a ‘one and done’ type of alarm. Annoying, hassle, waste of money. Doesn’t give me much confidence that they’ll even work when they’re supposed to, and may even be worse when they ‘cry wolf’ and the family starts not taking them seriously.
