Hello Deacon. This lawn mower has a 163cc Briggs and Stratton engine. We specify our engine size and capacity using engine displacement (cc), because it is highly reliable and consistent. We do not provide horsepower ratings, and there is no direct mathematical conversion to calculate engine horsepower from engine displacement. Thank you.

Customers say the Troy-Bilt lawn mower is easy to assemble and starts reliably on the first pull, making it user-friendly. Many appreciate its lightweight design and effective cutting performance, especially on flat terrain. However, some users have noted challenges with the self-propelled feature on inclines and difficulties in adjusting the rear wheel height. Overall, the mower is well-regarded for its versatility and ease of use, though some customers experienced issues with packaging and missing parts upon delivery.

                        re-packaged
Received my new mower, box was in shambles, but opened anyway. Mower appeared to be in new condition, but appears someone received, opened and re-packaged as the parts were all over the place. Upon assembly noticed one of the plow bolts was missing for the handle assembley…disappointing..also noticed some oil residue on the bottom of the box, but after inspecting the oil reservoir and stick it appeared it may have been residue from the ‘prior owner’ or just factory lubrication..havent attempted to start it as im still disappointed how it arrived, the missing bolt, and nervous about placing gas/oil in it if i have to return…this is the third home depot delivery in a row I’ve had issues with..

Good self propelled bad rear discharge design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The mower works well. The self propelled handles are comfortable. The discharge at the rear is of poor design. There is a single metal bar that holds the whole assembly to the mower but as you mow the vibration causes this metal bar to slide out and if you don’t catch it in time the spring also comes off as well. I have to constantly push this metal rod back in while I’m mowing.

                          TB310C Self-Propelled Mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Troy-Bilt to replace a 40+ year old Ariens lawnmower. My initial reaction is that there are a lot of plastic parts. Also, the drive doesn't completely dis-engage when releasing the handles, which is problematic when you're pulling the lawnmower backwards while mowing. So far, the mower is OK.

It's a nice mower. The engine has ample power to cut even long wet grass. I like the "manual" controls for the propulsion. (Not a fan of those propulsion systems which try and match your walking speed automatically. This is one of the reasons I bought this unit.) It even has an adjustment knob under the handle to set the maximum speed. Two slight downsides to this mower are: - The side discharge chute falls off very easily if you bump it into anything, including just tall weeds. - The underside of the deck has a lot of screws and crevasses which the grass gets caught in causing it to clog up. Overall it's a good mower and I am glad I purchased it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great little mower!! Climbs up hill effortlessly, light yet sturdy and doesn’t bog down in heavy grass. Love everything about it, just wish it had a wider deck.

                          Outstanding Lawn Mower! TB 310C
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent Mower. My son wanted my old Troy Bilt lawn mower that was 20 years old and had no issues. I bought this one. The engine from China is outstanding. It started on the first pull. Outstanding quality right out of the box. Everything went together like butter. Super strong and quiet engine from China. No choke and no prime and starts on the first pull every time. I used to have a Briggs & Stratton engine and that thing is garbage compared to this engine. The engine has a two year no start guarantee just like a Toro. Starts on the first pull every time. The variable speed transmission is butter smooth. The side discharge sprays out the grass very uniformly. I used to have Honda mower and I would tell you this is better. I always had to walk in the clippings on my Honda rear discharge and this one sprays out the grass on the right side. I don't have a single issue with this lawnmower. I am 66 and this is the best lawn mower I have ever owned.
