Recycling at The Home Depot

Did you know?

eco_image

Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.

eco_image

This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot has sold to Trex in the past. This is used to manufacture composite decking, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.

We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.

The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Great customer service
The experiences I’ve had at this Home Depot have been nothing short than exceptional customer service. Greg helped me get everything I needed for a small project and even checked back on me later during my visit.

    Mulch pickup
The guys loading mulch into my truck were freindly, helpful and organized. They also worked well together! Simply a great attitude!

      Cargo Van Rentals
Looks like the rental system is hijacked by their Penske collaboration. Home Depot advertise one price and you end up with renting from Penske. This is bad business.

Rod Nohl is a great resource
I recently bought a home in the area and wanted to make several upgrades. My daughter and I had visited a few flooring stores and had questions about how to convert the existing tile and carpet to waterproof vinyl. Rod at the Elgin Home Depot was the first person who took our questions seriously and helped us understand the options. He also helped when the estimate came back with conflicting information and guided us to a less expensive alternative. In addition, when I mentioned that I also wanted to revamp closets and blinds, he quickly connected me to other Home Depot staff to help. We have used Home Depot for other home project in the past 25 years, and the support and responsiveness we got from Rod in Elgin far surpassed any previous assistance, most of which has been quite useful and competent.

                Bad customer service
Waited in the power tool aisle for 30 minutes, asked 3 different employees for help to unlock a few tools and nobody came back or helped.

                    Mike at customer service counter!
Do not waste your time with Mike. He refused to help me. While I waited for the other employee I watched 3 other customer enteractions. The one gentleman was so upset he left the store bc of the way Mike talked to him. The other 2 were not happy but stayed in store. The enteractions would have been easy if he would have treated them decently. I watched Mike behind the customer service desk. He tries to stay far enough away to just stand there and have no engagement with customers. He wouldn't help the other female employee with her line. I honestly felt bad for her. I run retail stores and he is an embarrassment to the face of home depot. I will not be back.
