A Note From The Home Depot
When recreating a new look for your bedroom, flooring plays a major role. Mallory and Savannah of Classy Clutter took advantage of The Home Depot’s bamboo flooring and showed how adding new flooring can make a huge difference in the look and feel of your room.

Installing the Bamboo Flooring

I am so excited to share with you my girls’ bedroom flooring. My kids’ room has been carpeted since the day we moved in. The carpet was not in terrible shape, but it was a light tan color and very old. I wanted something timeless and durable. We decided to use this hand scraped strand woven mojave bamboo flooring. I love this flooring because it is so easy to install, has a nice texture and beautiful color variations.
Flooring Shopping

Shopping for the right flooring can be tricky, but The Home Depot makes everything really easy. When I was shopping online for the flooring for my kids’ room, I knew there were a few things that were must-haves for me. I wanted flooring that was water-resist, easy to install and durable enough to hold up with my kids. The home legend hand scraped woven mojave bamboo flooring I chose has all of those features.
Tools

The great thing about this flooring is that the install is really easy, and you don’t need a ton of tools.
Remove the Old Carpet
Out with the old in with the new. To start, we rolled up the old carpet and removed all of the carpet tack strips.
Prep the Space

After the carpet was removed, there was a little bit of glue on the concrete subfloor. We removed all of the extra foam from the carpet and glue residue with a floor scraper. After we scraped everything up, we used a wet/dry vac to vacuum up the debris that was left over.
Underlayment

Because we have a concrete subfloor, we used the FloorMuffler underlayment before we installed the vinyl flooring. We rolled out the underlayment on top of the concrete and taped it down.

Installing the Bamboo Flooring

The flooring was so easy to install, we finished the entire space in a single day. To start, you want to lay the first row on the straightest wall. Each plank has one side with a groove and one side with a tongue. Place the groove side facing away from the wall. You’ll connect the planks with the lower drop lock end on the bottom and the upper drop lock end on top. Once the first row is complete, cut the following planks to create a staggered look. If you experience any gaps while connecting the planks, use your mallet and tapping block to close the gaps. Continue this process until your floor is complete.

Flooring Features

I love that this flooring has great color, a lot of dimension and has a scratch-resistant layer. I also love that it’s really easy to install because no glue is required.

The Final Look

I really love this flooring so far, and I am excited to finally have some new flooring in my kids’ room.
