Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
Should I do siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for winter weather by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be looking at trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check cinder block and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
What are some storage solutions for a crowded holiday home?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Moving blankets can protect fragile items as they're packed together. Shoe racks and other storage containers take summer belongings out of the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
