Take on any home improvement project with the tools you need — even if you don't own them. Rent power tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You can complete your project without taking up valuable workshop or shed storage with tools you only reach for every so often.
Tool and Equipment Rental
Using The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Avon/Vail can expand the scope of your DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Rent quality tools to complete your project safely and confidently. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, you might find it at another store within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Make the most of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Scaffolding rentals help you reach elevated areas when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're feeling motivated to check that job off the to-do list.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Rental Trucks
To meet your transport needs, we keep box trucks and cargo vans on hand — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet at certain stores. You're sure to find the correct size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your source for moving and transport as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the scissor lifts and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You may also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your local store. For more details on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a week?
Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before choosing a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my rented large equipment from the store?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for an affordable rate — at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
