Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with strong winds, thunderstorms, or snowstorms, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements take it out. When searching generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Should I do siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be looking at trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brick and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed if in poor condition.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through an adjacent window or peephole when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
