The Home Depot Rental Center at Chesterfield

Take on any home improvement project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. You're free to finish your project without cluttering up valuable garage or shed storage with tools you only reach for every so often.

Tool Rental
The Home Depot Chesterfield Tool Rental Center helps you handle more complex DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Rent the tools to finish your project safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, you could find it at another store within driving distance.

Tame the Greenery and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten around the garden and bushes with rental lawn mowers and trimmers, and get that driveway clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, add another layer to your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies well. Help keep your heating and cooling bills under control with new insulation that maintains your home's temperature.

Truck Rental
If it's time to get going on your move but you have to rent a truck to do it, stop by The Home Depot Truck Rental Center. From cargo vans and pickup trucks to Penske moving trucks and box trucks, we've got the transportation you need. We'll have the right size for your project so you can keep your job on track. Rent a truck to check off more DIY jobs from your list. Check with your local rental center for availability, as it is subject to change.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with the right professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the scissor lifts and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning specific truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more details on renting tools or large equipment, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.

How long can I rent tools or large equipment?

You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I bring the tools back?

It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before you choose a vehicle.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my rented large equipment from the store?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented large equipment. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?

Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
