Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our communities. Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with thunderstorms, snowstorms or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Should I do siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing any broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed out if they're damaged.
What are the benefits of doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
