How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. How long can I rent tools?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before choosing a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
