Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows.
Should I make siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap vinyl siding and chimney caps if in poor condition.
What are the benefits of doorbell cameras?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a peephole or window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off wannabe porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
