Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When shopping for generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for fluctuating spring temps?
Ready your home for spring temperatures swings and storms by repairing or replacing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be swapped out if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off wannabe porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
