Take on any new home improvement project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't currently own them. Rent the tools, use them, and return them when you're done. Complete your project without taking up your workshop or basement with tools you only reach for every so often.
Tool and Equipment Rental
Using The Home Depot East Liberty Tool Rental Center helps you handle larger DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Rent quality tools to complete your project safely and confidently. If your local store doesn't have a tool you need in stock, you may be able to find it at another one within driving distance.
Tame the Trees and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway and sidewalks with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
A Comfortable Workspace is a Productive One
Get ready to beat the heat before it hits. We've got ways to help keep your workspace comfortable and cool so you can get more done. We have generators to run rental air conditioners, fans, and all your large power tools.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready for rental. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickups to flatbeds to cargo vans. We'll have the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's simple to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, let us help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from a dorm to a city apartment to a 4-bedroom house, and anything in between. Our box trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than Penske moving trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular truck, large equipment, and tool rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is available at your store. For more on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment by the hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before selecting a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered to your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra time you require.
