Tool and Equipment Rental
Start your home improvement job with confidence and the correct tools. Let The Home Depot Encinitas Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have at home. Rent what you need and bring it back after the job is done. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Beautiful spring days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need ladder rentals for painting fences, or scaffolding rentals for painting a shed or house, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and bushes with rental lawn mowers and edgers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.

How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You can also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more information on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool for an hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and long-term jobs can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before choosing a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
