The Home Depot Rental Center at Vista

When you're ready to leap into a DIY job, you might not have all the required tools in your shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Vista Tool Rental Center.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental choices enlarge your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete the job. It's impractical to get a specialized tool when you're rarely reaching for it. When you're considering a new tool, give it a spin before you select which one to buy. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.

Rent Post Hole Diggers, Floor Sanders, and Shop Vacs
Tackle major projects with robust power tools. Use a rental tiller to get your garden bed ready for planting or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter rental. Construct a new fence around your home faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools that suit your job.

Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Make the most of warmer weather to paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get professional coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach high locations when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when inspiration strikes.

Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds on hand. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to flatbeds to pickup trucks. We'll have the correct size for your project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's simple to make us your source for truck rental as well.

Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies by store. Our box trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than Penske moving trucks, so check out our FAQ or speak to an associate to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out specific tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You may also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your local store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

Can I rent tools or large equipment by the hour?

Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

How long can I rent a truck?

Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before choosing your vehicle.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on my large equipment rentals?

Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
