Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

What's your selection of moving boxes like?
Make your move easier by picking up an assortment of moving boxes. We've got the sizes you need, including specialty ones like wardrobe and TV boxes. Cushion any and all items with bubble cushion and moving blankets to ensure your belongings make it there safely. Don't forget to check out our moving truck rentals if you need those, too.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with severe thunderstorms, blizzards tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder blocks and bricks for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, replace chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off wannabe porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
