DISAPPOINTMENT
Our Hawaii County exhibit of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall January 22 - 28, 2024 was ignored by the Hilo Home Depot store #8453. Despite many visits to the store and several meetings with the Store Manager by me personally as the Event Chairman. We worked on this event for nearly 2 years as this VVMF.org display has been traveling the Nation for 29 years and supported by Home Depot in other communities many times. Your reputation for supporting Veterans is widely known, but why your Management Staff in the Hilo Store chose to ignore our event was hugely disappointing. We have made a video that is still in post production and could use some financial support as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund .org is using the Hawaii Visit on their National WebSite and as this was the first ever trip to Hawaii (probably will never happen again). This Wall has been displayed in over 750 communities, in each state 20+ times except for Hawaii & Alaska, so this trip to Hawaii was of National Significance.                   No help...you're on your own
                  Bought ceramic tile supplies , hardibacker and bags of thinset. Needed joint tape, no one around to ask. I finally found it, in all places in the drywall dept. Went to load and no one bothered to lift a finger. I'm 70 years old and can take care of it myself, but 4 loaders outside and they were all doing their best to avoid me.

                        Pro perks not added
                        I have no problem with the service or products at my local Home Depot. However, something was wrong with my pro extra account in for an entire year of me buying building materials. Nothing was ever added, or rather the purchases were not added to my pro extra account and I never got the perks for a whole year worth of purchases.

                            I try to use the HD app to assist in finding items but because of its construction cell coverage is very poor throughout the store. If HD wants to provide an app to assist shopping. They should provide wifi or put a wireless boost in the store. I believe HD assumes employees are available and willing to assist but it ain't so. They typically avoid eye contact or ignore customers making it uncomfortable to approach for aid.

                                Access to my Home Depot credit account and Veteran's discount has improved greatly with an easy check-out by providing my phone number. Not having to fish out the plastic card made check-out fast and convenient.

                                    The Hilo Home Depot should be the Customer Service model for how to do it WELL!
                                    Anytime I have had a question, needed help with a missing receipt, needed help with warranty repair the employees here have 100% of the time gone ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations. If the rest of the world cared half as much as the Home Depot folk do we would have NO ISSUES in the world!

                                      Presidents’ Day best time to buy appliance
                                      We purchased a washer during Home Depot’s Presidents’ Day sale and had an excellent experience thanks to Supervisor Gregg and Betty in the Appliance department. They went above and beyond to resolve a gift card issue quickly and professionally. Their outstanding customer service made the process smooth and stress-free!

                                          A Simple Ask...Fail
                                          I really like Home Depot, but this particular day wasn't a very good day. They weren't particularly busy in there (just my observation). I went in to get a wheelbarrow. I found the one I liked (about 7 f them). it was outside the store chained up along with 3 or 4 other different brands. I went back inside to find an associate. It took me 20 mins to find one. I explained that all i needed help with was someone to unchain the wheelbarrow so I could pay and be on my way. the associated said. well i don't know which one you want and need to check if its in stock. I told her what I wanted was outside and needed to someone to unlock the chain. She continued to tap on her keyboard looking up wheel barrows, then telling me they only had 3.(which was much more expensive than what I wanted). No offer to go look, no offer to call an associate to check. She wasn't listening to what I was saying. I ended leaving with no wheelbarrow and going to other place to get a wheelbarrow. Today 0/5

                                                Lacking Full Disclosure
                                                Bought a dishwasher. Was told it was in stock. Was not told that it was located off site in a warehouse and that I was responsible for getting it. Was also not told about the warehouse hours or lack there of in this case. All associates need to be trained on providing full disclosure.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of purchasing a refrigerator over the phone with James from the Hilo Home Depot appliance department, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From start to finish, James made the entire process so pleasant, seamless, and stress-free, which is rare these days when buying large appliances. James was not only extremely knowledgeable about the different refrigerator models, but he also took the time to understand my needs and preferences. He answered all my questions with patience, professionalism, and a friendly attitude that made me feel like I was talking to a trusted friend rather than just another sales associate. What really stood out was how effortlessly he guided me through the entire purchasing process over the phone. Buying a major appliance without physically being there could have been complicated, but James made it easy and convenient.                                                           My last 4 orders have had missing or incorrect items. It will be over a month before I can get dry plywood delivered. Assuming that they have it on the truck this time. I try to have patience..... but I just wanted to have my countertops finished by Christmas.
