Take on any DIY project with the right tools for the job — even if you don't currently own them. Rent the tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. You can finish your project without cluttering up your garage or shed with tools you rarely need.
Tool and Equipment Rental
The Home Depot Lakewood-North Tool Rental Center lets you do larger DIY projects. Break free of the limits of old tools and rent up-to-date tools made to suit your projects. Rent the tools to finish your project safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, you might find it at another store within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Make the most of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Ladder rentals help you reach high places when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're ready to work.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the sidewalks and driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep cargo vans as well as box trucks ready for rental — with availability varying by store. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths at certain stores. Choose the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's smart to make us your source for moving and transport as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers and mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out specific truck, large equipment, and tool rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular truck in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read the Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for an hour?
Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and long-term projects can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before choosing your vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
