Take on any new DIY project with the right tools — even if you don't have them on hand. Rent the tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. You're free to finish your project without taking up garage or workshop storage with tools you rarely use.
Tool Rental
Using The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Santa Fe lets you do more complex DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have a tool you need in stock, you might find it at another one within driving distance.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, replace your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated with ease. You'll enjoy a more consistent home temperature and steadier utility bills with new insulation.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and shrubs with rental lawn mowers and edgers, and get that driveway and sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to pickup trucks to flatbeds. Choose the correct size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's easy to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, let us help with that, too. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Our Penske moving trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than our box trucks, so check our FAQ or speak to an associate to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is in stock at your store. For more information on renting large equipment or tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?
Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement jobs may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before you choose a vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. Speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
