The Home Depot Rental Center at Liberty

Take on any home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't currently own them. Rent the tools, use them, and take them back when you're done. Finish your project without taking up valuable workshop storage with tools you rarely reach for.

Tool Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Liberty helps you handle more complex DIY projects. No more old hand-me-down tools that limit what you can do. Rent quality tools to complete your project confidently and safely. If your local store doesn't have the tool in stock, it could be at another store within driving distance.

Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, upgrade your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated well. You'll enjoy steadier utility bills and a more consistent home temperature with new insulation.

Tame the Trees and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the sidewalks with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.

Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to pickup trucks to flatbeds. We'll have the correct size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for storage needs, DIY projects, and packing, it's smart to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.

Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Our Penske moving trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than our box trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete expansive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent large equipment or tools by the hour?

You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before choosing a vehicle.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my rented large equipment from the store?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered and removed from your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
