When you're starting to leap into a major DIY project, you might not have every tool you need in a workshop or shed. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Midtown Kansas City.
Tool Rental
Our tool and equipment rental options enlarge your toolbelt with the precise tools you need to complete your DIY project. It's impractical to keep a specialized tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're thinking about getting a new tool, do a trial run before you select which to get. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Beautiful sunny days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need ladder rentals for painting fences, or scaffolding rentals for painting a shed, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.
Rent Shop Vacuums, Post Hole Diggers, and Floor Sanders
Tackle serious projects with reliable power tool rentals. Get your garden bed ready for spring with a tiller rental or ensure fresh sod lays just right with a sod cutter. Construct a new fence around your pool or property faster and more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to roll. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from cargo vans to flatbed trucks to pickups. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to relocate to a new home, we can help with that as well. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths, but as always, availability varies by store. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a college dorm to the contents of a 4-bedroom house. Our Penske moving trucks have different sizes and rental requirements than our box trucks, so check the FAQ or speak to an associate to make sure you find the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific tool, large equipment, and truck rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more info on renting large equipment or tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent tools or large equipment by the hour?
You can rent large equipment or tools for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and long-term jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the provided documentation before you select a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to pick up my rented large equipment from the store?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
