When you're starting to make the leap into a home improvement job, you might not have every tool you need in the shed. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Merriam Tool Rental Center.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental options expand your toolbox and toolbelt with the exact tools you need to complete a DIY job. It's not necessary to invest in a specialized tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're considering a new tool, do a trial run first before you select which to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Tame the Trees and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the sidewalks and driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Make Painting Easier with Ladder and Paint Sprayer Rentals
Gorgeous springtime days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, ladder rentals for painting fences, or scaffolding rentals for painting sheds or houses, we have what you need.
Truck Rental
For your transport needs, we keep flatbed trucks and cargo vans ready to rent — with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the correct size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's smart to make us your source for transport and moving as well.

How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You might also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent tools by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you decide on a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
