Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with strong winds, blizzards, or severe thunderstorms, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. Check cinder blocks and bricks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak into your home. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be replaced if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
