Take on any home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't currently own them. Rent tools, use them, and bring them back when you're done. Finish your project without cluttering up garage or shed storage with tools you only need once in a while.
Tool and Equipment Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Orion Township can expand the scope of your DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Complete your project safely and confidently by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have the tool you need in stock, you may be able to find it at another one within driving distance.
Tame the Lawn and Greenery Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, refresh your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent equipment made for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated well. Help keep your heating and cooling bills under control with new insulation that maintains your home's temperature.
Truck Rental
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks and cargo vans on hand — with availability varying by store. We'll have the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY, and storage, it's smart to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.

How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You may also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is in stock at your local store. For more info on renting tools, read our Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent a tool for an hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and long-term projects can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the documentation before choosing your truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
