Tool and Equipment Rental
Begin your home improvement project with confidence and the correct tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in S Olathe fill in the gaps in your toolbelt with the items you don't have on hand. You can rent a tool and return it when you've completed the project. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, inquire about buying our retired rental tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Make Painting Easier with Paint Sprayers and Rental Scaffolding
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage fast and make surfaces look new again. Rent scaffolding and ladders to reach elevated areas when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry step ladders and extension ladders for small to medium jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're feeling motivated to check that job off the to-do list.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw rental, and the driveway and sidewalks with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
To meet your transport needs, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to rent. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickup trucks to cargo vans to flatbeds. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY jobs, it's smart to make us your source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck Rentals
When you need a 12-foot box truck for a small move, we've got just what you need. It's a great solution for cross-town moves. Use it for transporting extra belongings to a storage space as well. Get your truck, pack it full, then return it to that same store when you're done.
Penske Moving Trucks
You trust us with your DIY jobs. Do the same when it's time to move into a new condo, house, or apartment. We offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12 feet to 26 feet. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a college dorm to the contents of a 4-bedroom house.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right pro power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular truck, large equipment, and tool rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent trucks, tools, or large equipment?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools or trucks you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You may also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is at your local store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool for a month?
Large equipment rentals and tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a short rental period, and major projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the month, week, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before selecting a truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered to your job site for an affordable rate — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get dinged with a late fee.
