          We have been doing home+kitchen renovation for over a month now so I’ve been frequenting Home Depot and the “other store” way too much for purchases. Today in particular, I was looking for hammer-in and ribbed anchors for drywall. 2 employees a few feet away from me were casually chatting about their lovelife, and not one of them asked if I needed help. I went to the supervisor/cust service to ask for help and she requested staff from hardware. I went back to the aisle to keep looking for what I need, saw the same girl and guy not even turning around to respond to the call. They were either too busy chatting and/or didnt want to help. The supervisor saw me lining up and radio’d in for help the 2nd time around. I told her to disregard and also mentioned that there were 2 employees in that aisle the whole time who never bothered to offer help. I actually needed more items from a different department but I was so turned off that I decided to just pay for the anchors and leave. Most of the staff just seem to be working to get paid; the lack of genuine customer service is apparent, esp in this store. Meanwhile, the 6 employees, including the supervisor, at “the other store” on Golden Valley wouldn’t quit until we found more boxes on the upper shelves of the backsplash I needed the other day! Huuuuge difference!

            I visited "my" The Home Depot about two weeks ago to help out a friend. I was stunned to discover your nursery (for both outdoors and indoors) was exceptional. We really loaded up her cart. So last week, I returned... for ME! There was so much from which to choose, and I loved that all the perennials were separate from the annuals... and the rows were filled in such inviting ways. That sure made it easy for me. And what was particularly astounding was the number of choices! Beautiful perennials, and I did go a little bit crazy in my selections. Everything was healthy-looking. Even though I didn't want annuals, I drooled over all the many, MANY colors there were. After that, I found just the right sizes of pretty containers I would need for my patio, and I grabbed up various bags of perennial bulbs, as well. Then I found the potting soil, which meant getting assistance with those heavy bags -- and before I could even ask, a really cool young man was approaching me to offer his help -- WOW! He even suggested another type of soil for a different idea I came up with on the spot, in addition to the potting soil. We had a few good laughs as I told him my near-instantaneous clever idea, which he seemed to genuinely like. I grabbed up some packets of perennial flower seeds, too. I wanted to toss those around the general area that surrounds my isolated townhouse -- to heck with the rules! If I'm asked, I'll say it must have been all the sweet, wild birds who came around and generously "donated" seeds for my surrounding area. I did venture around most of the rest of the store, and grabbed up a few other in-home goodies while I was at it. The whole store was quite inviting, I must say, and I have to admit I ended up having a very good time shopping at The Home Depot.

            The paint department staff was either incompetent or had a horrible disposition. I dealt with four different people in the paint dept trying to get some stain. They didn't listen, gave me the wrong product, assumed it was the customer's fault and then issued a store coupon (which I'm sure Home Depots hopes the customer misplaces or forgets about) instead of crediting in the manner in which it was paid, e.g., cash, credit or debit card. It took three trips to get a gallon of stain (I actually wanted a quart, but they claimed they didn't have quarts). They wanted me to come back down to the store for the forth time to fix their errors. There is no way to contact the store or corporate customer service via email. I finally emailed the CEO and was apparently contacted by a call center in India. Home Depot's claim of "world class customer service" is a joke.

When i got to the store early next morning, first I could not find a salesperson for closet door. I had to go to another department and ask for them to page someone. And after about 10 minutes i saw the same sales person walking by and asked her if anyone was coming, She told me there is no one in that department till 10am. That's another 45 minutes. After I complained she got her hand held computer out and check the item for me . It said three in stock, but after checking they didn't have any. I contacted store assistant manager ALEX. He wasn't a friendly person at all, in fact I felt I was burden to him. Because I didn't know the SKU number we walked backed to the area and along the way he asked another sales person to come with him. He checked the sku, saw that they had 3 in stock, he told me they sold before I got there. I didn't believe that for a minute and ask to see the sales on that item. He said he would not do that. He went around the corner and found the 3 items. From that point on everything went very unprofessional. Alex left, the sales person became short and rude, the person that had to get that item off the top shelf was rude. He got it down , placed it on my cart and walked away. The only positive experience was the cashier. He was friendly , sociable and a pleasure to deal with,.

On my latest trip to Home Depot on 4/11/2020, most people who are working at the Home Depot and several of the people shopping there were not wearing face masks. I understand that this is a difficult time for everybody, but that is no excuse to ignore the law. As it has been decreed by the mayor, the face covering rule is now enforceable by law.
