Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement job with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot South Bay/Boston Tool Rental Center expand your toolbelt with the items you don't have at home. You can rent what you need and bring it back when the job is done. If it makes sense to have those rental tools around all the time, ask about purchasing used tools. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Lighten the load with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway with a rental pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be refreshed and ready for new spring flowers in no time.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, replace your insulation in the spring, if possible — before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it correctly. Decide between a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies with ease. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.
Rental Trucks
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep flatbed trucks and Penske moving trucks ready for rental — with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your job on track. As your trusted source for DIY jobs of all sizes, it's easy to make us your source for moving and transport as well.
To get tools and transportation for your DIY or moving project, check out The Home Depot South Bay/Boston Tool and Truck Rental Center. Having the appropriate tools for the job makes a difference. We're here to help you get that home improvement project done.
How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool for an hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and bigger jobs can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent tools by the month, week, or day, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before choosing your truck.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
