Take on any new home improvement project with the right tools — even if you don't own them. Rent power tools, use them, and return them when you're done. You're free to finish your project without cluttering up garage or workshop storage with tools you rarely reach for.
Tool Rental
The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Summerwood lets you do more complex DIY projects. You won't be limited by only what you have on hand or have to settle for untrustworthy hand-me-down tools. Complete your project confidently and safely by renting quality tools. If your local store doesn't have a tool you need in stock, it might be at another one within driving distance.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Gorgeous springtime days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Make surfaces look new again with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need scaffolding rentals for painting houses or sheds, or rental ladders for painting fences, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.
Tame the Lawn and Trees Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the lawn and shrubs with rental lawn mowers and trimmers, and get that sidewalk clean again with a pressure washer rental. Your outdoor oasis will be looking fresh and ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Cargo Van and Truck Rentals
For transporting large tool rentals or anything else, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to roll. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbed trucks to pickup trucks to cargo vans. You're sure to find the correct size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Box Truck Rentals
When you need a 12-foot box truck for a small move, we've got just what you need. It's a great solution for cross-town moves. Use it for transporting extra belongings to a storage space as well. Get your truck, pack it full, then return it to that same store when you're done.
Penske Moving Trucks
You're comfortable doing your home improvement projects with us. Do the same when it's time to move into a new house, apartment, or condo. We offer Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from a dorm to a city apartment to a 3-bedroom home, and anything in between.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job. From the scissor and boom lifts to give you a boost to the skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning specific large equipment, tool, and truck rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent large equipment, trucks, or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You might also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your store. For more information on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a tool or large equipment for a week?
You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you select a vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that level. When you don't refill the rental vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off and picked up from your job site for a reasonable cost — out in the field or at your own home. You'll need to rent it for one day or longer and provide us with 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid extra fees and penalties on rented large equipment?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get charged a late fee.
