Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with severe thunderstorms, snowstorms hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by repairing or replacing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if damaged.
Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a nearby window or peephole when you can see animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
