How do I rent trucks and tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool for a month?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a cargo van, box truck, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before choosing your vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
