Frostproof gardenias are not considered safe for pets due to the potential toxicity of various parts of the plant. All parts of the gardenia plant, including the leaves, flowers, stems, and roots, are known to be toxic to pets, such as dogs and cats. Ingestion of these plant parts can lead to symptoms of poisoning in pets, such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, weakness, and in severe cases, organ failure. Given these risks, it is crucial for pet owners to take precautions to keep gardenias out of reach of their furry friends to ensure their safety and well-being. Best Wishes, Kendall
While Frost Proof gardenias may be less attractive to deer compared to other plant varieties, it's always a good idea to be proactive in protecting your garden from deer damage.
Hey Sarah, The Frostproof gardenia size can be maintained as small as 12-14 inches tall in a pot or container, but grows to about 3 feet tall outdoors. This slow-growing frost proof gardenia plant will eventually grow up to 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide at maturity after several years. Best Wishes, Kendall - My Perfect Plants
The 1 gallon size may have a few blooms this year but because of the size of the plant it won't be a lot of flowers. The abundance of flowers increases as the plant grows larger. Also they are just finishing blooming here in Florida now so it depends on when you buy the plant also.
Hey There, Thanks so much for reaching out with your question. Frostproof Gardenias can tolerate full sun to partial sun exposure, according to the information I we have. While they are more tolerant of direct sun exposure compared to other gardenia varieties, they can still benefit from some shade during the hottest parts of the day. It is important to note that even though they can withstand full sun, they may perform better and have increased flower production with some afternoon shade. I hope this helps! Best WIshes, Kendall
Hey there, Yellowish-green leaves on 7-year-old Gardenia shrubs can be caused by nutrient deficiencies (such as iron), improper soil pH (too alkaline), poor drainage, excessive sunlight, or cold stress. Checking the soil pH, ensuring proper drainage, and providing shade can help address the issue. Please let us know if you need any further help, I will be more than happy to assist. Best Wishes, Kendall
