I just put down polycuramine floor coating. The coating goes half way under the garage door. Half of the threshold will be on the coating and the other half will be on concrete. How should I afix this to the floor?
Our product testing using the adhesive that is included with the threshold kit was limited to clean concrete only. We cannot guarantee satisfactory results on any other surface.
Will the caulk adhere well to my current, rusted steel threshold strip? And/or to the concrete floor at the threshold? I know I'd have to prepare/clean those surfaces, but I'd like to know if the caulk will adhere. I don't care about how it looks, I'd just like to cover the steel threshold to prevent additional rust and deterioration.
Hello Gil, The adhesive should adhere. However, we strongly recommend that you remove any previous threshold seal that is currently installed on your garage floor in order for the product work correctly. From your question, it sounds like you could be talking about the bottom retainer on the door as well. If you have an existing retainer, but the seal is deteriorated, we recommend replacing that so the threshold seal can work properly.
I was told to use E6000, this is what the local garage door guys use instead of the caulk provided. It took a full three tubes of E6000 and I kept the door shut to apply pressure for 4 days to allow it to cure properly, because I was pushing the lower end of the temperature range. With proper prep you should be fine.
