I'm trying to just paint over my wooden vanity bench that is taupe and just want it white to match the vanity, itself. Is this something I can use just to paint over the taupe color of the seat?

Answer This Question

Hi Mell, thanks for the question. Our Solid-Color Waterproofing Stain & Sealer is designed more for exterior wood projects. For changing the color of your wood vanity bench, I'd suggest using one of our paint & primer in one products, such as our Ultra Interior Scuff-Defense Paint. If you have additional questions about your project, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. -Ronald

      Answer This Question

Hi Penny, thank you for your question. If the previous solid stain is in good condition, then clean the surface with the All-In-One Wood Cleaner, No. 63, and allow it to dry completely before re-applying the Solid Wood Stain. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

                Answer This Question

Hi Peydon, thank you for your question. When spraying the Semi-Transparent Wood Stain, we recommend a high-quality pump sprayer with a variable tip or an airless sprayer with a .015-.019" tip. Work in small sections and immediately back-brush or use pad applicator to eliminate puddling and distribute the stain evenly. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say that Behr Premium Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain and Sealer offers excellent coverage and is easy to apply, often requiring only one or two coats for optimal results. Many users appreciate the wide range of color options and the product's ability to enhance the natural wood grain while providing good waterproofing. However, some customers have experienced issues with durability, noting that the stain may not last as long as advertised, particularly on horizontal surfaces. Overall, the product is well-regarded for its ease of use and aesthetic appeal, though users are advised to carefully consider color choices and application techniques for the best outcomes.

New Paint Didn't Match the Previous Batch of Paint
I bought my 1st 5 gallon #SC-365 Cape Cod Gray Solid Paint a little a couple months ago to use on the siding that I'm installing on my home. I can say that the paint worked well initially but something was amiss. I noticed that it was a little thick and that was fine because the paint spread and covered well over rough cut siding that I purchased it for. My real problem is that I ran out of paint and had to purchase another 5 gallon #SC-365 Cape Cod Gray Solid Paint to continue the siding project. Now this new paint is a tad bit thinner and when it dries it is lighter than my previous paint. This is unacceptable for me. Now I have to drive 50 miles to get something done to fix this problem. I have just too much already painted and installed to have a mix-matched look. Both batches have identical mixing numbers as you can make out in the pictures, so this shouldn't happen if mixed correctly.

The stain went on well and will be ordering more. Hopefully I can find more options with the blue tints for semi transparent stain.

                    Coverage and cost per ounce
Note that you are paying 50% more for coverage than the web page states. I bought a "quart" at my local store yesterday after researching on the web site but the paint is sold in 29 fl oz cans. So you get 10% less than a quart at the same web price. The can says two coats are recommended, well duh. The can claims up to 100 sq ft of coverage per quart or 32 oz. The can says that the first coat will cover up to 100 sq ft per 32 oz and that the second coat will cover up to 200 sq ft per 32 oz. So, with the two recommended coats you will use 48 oz per 100 sq ft. So you will only be able to cover 60 sq ft max with 32 oz which is 40% less than advertised. So, altogether you are paying 50% more than what is advertised on the web site and can. That is false advertising. I've used the pain and it does what it says although you'll have to check back in 25 years to see if it meets the advertised longevity claims. Based on the other advertising claims I'm not optimistic but I'll be 95 years old then and won't care.

Hi there, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you have concerns with coverage of the stain. I wanted to point out that the reason the quart size is only 29 ounces instead of 32 is because up to 3 ounces of tint is added to the can to create the color. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our customer care team is happy to help you! -Ronald Behr

                      What a waste
This stuff is NOT semi transparent. It’s very light chocolate brown stain - and of course not returnable. I’ve sanded the previous paint off my front porch and got semi transparent in hopes it would cover any spots missed. Really disappointed it doesn’t have better/darker coverage.

Hi Kerry, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear the finish did not turn out how you expected. This semi-transparent stain does not provide full coverage. Horrible
You're basically playing with water and the color is absolutely NOTHING like pictured. 2 coats and this "beige" is white/grey. $220 down the dang drain. Color is Beechwood Beige

Hi MichiganMom08, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear the color turned out differently than you expected. Since this is a semi-transparent stain, the color of your wood will affect the final color of the stain, so it may not match the photo on the container. Color not accurate for Castle Rock Gray
I looked at the color brochure and also bought a sample to try out. I liked the color, so for my project I ordered up 25 gallons. After putting two coats on my side deck, I have waited for the stain to "cure". One week of curing and I think the color should have been something like "Hershey Milk Chocolate Brown". I expected it to be a little different from the brochure, but this is not even close. No gray tint at all. I gave it two stars because it was easy to apply with a Graco sprayer.

This Behr Exterior stain is the absolute best we’ve ever used, and we’ve tried so many(including oil based). We used the Chocolate color on our deck around the pool and friends compliment it often. It goes on like paint, it’s long lasting, and you clean up with water! We have brushed it, rolled it, and sprayed it with fantastic results . I’m so glad I trusted the reviews of contractors who praised this stain!
