Is sanding need to paint over stained cabinets
Hi A1234, thank you for your question. We recommend scuff sanding your stained cabinets before applying our Chalk Paint if they're glossy. Glossy surfaces can make it hard for coatings to stick. Best of luck with your project!
I want to paint solid wood dining chairs that currently have a worn away glossy coating. Am I better off using chalk paint or cabinet paint, and do I need a primer or can I just scuff sand first?
Tricia, It depends on your vision for the finished chairs. If youre moving away from glossy, use chalk paint and a top coat of waterbased clear as a protective finish (satin or matte). I used cabinet paint to cover oak - its too glossy for my taste.

Is there primer in the chalk paint?

Primer is recommended on all uncoated metal, cast stone, plastic, concrete, and wood that contains tannins, such as redwood and cedar, with Behr Multi-Surface Primer No. 436. Have a great day! -Alex

Do you have to seal this paint?
