    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Jude, thank you for the enquiry. The material has a certain element of heat insulation but does not insulate much. The structure will keep heat at a relative level. The structure is made of acrylic, and roofs are twin-wall polycarbonate panel. For further assistance kindly contact us at https://canopia.com/contact-us.

Q:How does it attach to the side of a house? Does it have to bolted or can it stand on its own against the house?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Robbie, thank you for the enquiry. Step 17 in assembly instructions manual explains detailly about the attachment. 1. Make sure that the frame is perfectly straightened by using a spirit level. 2. Make sure the frame is leveled and anchor it to the wall with suitable screws / screws + plugs / spikes (not supplied, excluding #BC1) in accordance with your wall surface. 3. The wall to which you are securing your product onto must be at 90 degrees to the foundation. And yes, the product must be attached to the wall as you can see in the assembly instructions. Roof panels will not stay on
Very nice looking sunroom, BUT not functional.1. Size was incorrect. 2.Roof panels are more flimsy than cardboard. The lightest breeze and they go flying. They do not fit snug into the channels and the panels are smaller than needed, they also flex a lot.

Hi MLNC, We are so sorry to hear you were unhappy with the material of your new Sunroom. We understand why you might think of the panels as “flimsy”, but please rest assured that the polycarbonate is in fact extremely durable and its strength and resilience come from its flexibility. The bracing's location is engineered to increase the product's stability & durability to weather. we would love to hear your thoughts on how we are to better our product, as we always strive for the best experience for our customers.

            Too many issues to list
First, the instructions are terrible. They advertise this for a novice to assemble and a professional contractor struggled with it. At the least, they should have a schematic. Second, the quality is fine if you have no weather. After having it up a month, the cheap corrugated roof panels pop out with the wind. I’m not looking forward to hail or snow. I’m sure they will have to be replaced. The vent is total crap. I’ve modified it twice and I’m already planning to make a new one. Third, the pieces that hold the angled panels and roof in place are all plastic. That would be fine if they didn’t hold every section in place. One breaks and the domino effect takes out several sections. Many other issues, but if your handy, you may be able to redesign as you go. The second star is for the door. It’s ok.

This product is not easily assembled. Expect damaged and/or missing parts. Instructions are very difficult to follow precisely. Expect to have to seal gaps from elements and modify to make this room more than a two season area. But after working through all those issues, the finished product is a nice additional 112 sq ft room added to our home.

This was a great addition to our home. I am using it as a greenhouse and so far I am well pleased. It was a bit more complicated to assemble that I expected but it is well constructed, just be sure to follow the instructions step by step exactly or you will be undoing your work to correct it. I built a deck to support it and added a French door to access it from a spare bedroom. This product does did meet my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone with the skills to assemble it, definitely a two person job.

I bought the 8 x 10 sunroom. I would rate it as sturdy with a couple of caveats and generally easy to assemble, again with a couple of caveats. The frame is PVC and should give some years of service. I've had an aluminum greenhouse before and didn't find it particularly sturdy, so time will tell. The assembled frame is rigid, with steel reinforcement in the uprights and there is no flexing, which is important. The polycarbonate panels are, as always, flimsy. The top panels are secured in aluminum rails. I am concerned about snow load causing flexing, but will have to deal that if it does. There are two carbonate panels in the top of the sides that are not well secured and they are large enough to flex in the wind. I may caulk them in and put some stiffeners behind them. We get some nasty winds here occasionally. The acrylic panels are sturdy and held well by the frame. There is weatherstripping that holds them tightly in place. I built a wooden base for it and they require a 2 inch extension outside of the expected perimeter. You will need it, because there is some slop in the frame as it goes together. Plus, depending on the wall you attach to, you could have some skew. It is helpful to have a long level or straightedge to keep things straight. It goes together with plastic pins that seem to work well, but you will run into problems getting things to line-up occasionally, so a small round screwdriver to pull the pieces together is helpful. I used outdoor cabinet screws to attach it to the base and the wall. The instructions are pictorial to avoid having to do multiple languages. Sometimes a thousand words, or ten would be nice. It's not always easy to cogitate exactly what the picture is showing. It is helpful to look ahead a couple of pages to get a clue, and I still had to back-up a couple of times. I put this up by myself in about 40-50 hours. I'm in my seventies, so I don't move all that fast. I'm used to working alone, so it didn't seem to be a major problem. If you don't have some DIY experience and understand how to level and plumb things or how to use tools and assemble something with a few hundred parts, get help, or be prudent. Only you can decide what you are capable of accomplishing. Separate all the PVC parts by number because there are some with small size differences. Same with all the metal parts, and keep all the small parts in bags until you need them. There are lots of places to make a mistake or lose something. One thing I did was put up a ledger board for the uprights to rest on. It strengthens the uprights, and it made it much easier for me to put them up by myself. I also put scab boards behind the sheathing on the wall where the greenhouse attaches. There wasn't much alignment with studs and plywood doesn't hold screws well. Just think about places where there might be a weakness and fix it. Some of the complaints about these seem to be be fallacious. If you don't have DIY experience, stay away. This is a $2-4 thousand not a $20,000 greenhouse. You can't expect it to perform like it is. I might decide that it hasn't performed as well as I expect and will say so, but so far, my complaints are minor.
