Questions & Answers

Hello does the sliding door have to be mounted on the same side as the water valve and shower head? Thanks.
ByApr 6, 2023
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

You do not have to put the sliding door on the same side as the showerhead, however, we do find that most customers prefer doing it this way because they do not have to reach around the stationary glass to turn on the valve and they also do not have to worry about pointing the showerhead at a gap between the 2 pieces of glass. There is a long vertical strip that will block that gap, however, if you do have your showerhead on the opposite side of the door, you will still want to make sure you are not pointing the showerhead directly at the gap. If you have any other questions, we invite you to contact our DreamLine PreSales Consultants at 866-282-8413. We can also be reached by sending an email to support@dreamline.com. My new shower opening is 43" wide. Can this unit be adjusted by one inch in width to fit my shower opening.
      ByDec 12, 2021

      Answer This Question

Thank you for reaching out to DreamLine. DreamLine does not recommend that you cut the upper rail down to fit this unit into a 43" finished opening as this will increase the overlap between the glass panels and will reduce the walk-in entry so that it will only be 15". If you have any other questions, we invite you to contact our DreamLine PreSales Consultants at 866-282-8413. We can also be reached by sending an email to support@dreamline.com. Does the moving door leak? Especially when the shower head is on the same side?

          Answer This Question

Indeed, it does. The metal piece that is expected to prevent this doesn't fully solve the issue. I had to contact the manufacturer and they mailed me a silicone skirt that is attached to the bottom of the inside of the moving panel. That solved the problem. I don't understand why this is not a part of the package to begin with.

No. It comes with a gasket to prevent water to enter between the glass and door.

Having the moving panel on the same side as your shower head is the preferred installation orientation and reduces the chance of leaking. my walls are plumb up and down but the sides where the top rail would be installed to not face each other squarely. Will the hardware allow me to install the top bar at an angle?
              BySep 27, 2019
              4 Answers |
              Answer This Question

Hi Steve, I don't think the hardware would enable installation on an angle. The top bar is inserted in a socket-like bracket at each end. Each socket bracket is mounted flush to the wall. So I think to use this product in your existing shower as diagrammed, you would either have to install it straight across, at a 90 degree angle, OR possibly find or fabricate some other type of angled bracket (and mount them on each side of your opening) to attach each of the mounting sockets to, in order to accommodate the angle. I think you can find the installation instructions on the Dreamline website that details the requirements.

The Enigma-X can only be installed on walls that are perfectly parallel to each other. DreamLine shower doors can not be installed on walls that are at an angle to each other. The answer is definitely NO . When you slide your glass door closed the vertical side of the glass door will not be even up and down or plumb with the partition wall so the door will not slide shut evenly and seal against Shower water leaking past the vertical door seal onto the floor. So the SS rail you are referring to has to parallel to your bathroom floor

No. I do not think so. The top rail holds all the weight of the one sliding door. Probably 50 pounds.

My shower opening is 45 3/4 inches at the base, and 45 7/8 at the top. Will I have any issues with installing this door?

No, mine was off by 0.5 inch and still worked, there’s a small amount of adjustment, also whatever little gap has to still be filled with clear silicone to fully contain the splashing water, so it will be fine.

Your measurements indicate that your walls are out of plumb. The Enigma-X shower door requires plumb walls for installation, so we would not recommend it for your application. The one model that we do have is the Enigma Sky model number SHDR-6548760-08 This door has a U-channel that will accommodate for your out of plumb conditions. Can the stationary panel be on the inside rather than outside? I ask because I would be installing the door with a right hand opening, but my shower head is on the left. This means that when the door is closed, water from the shower will more easily go into the gap between the doors, leaking on to the floor. I'd like this: < -_ Instead of this: < _-

I have the same door. Looking at it just now, it seems like that would work. But I recommend you talk to Dreamline. They were really helpful with my questions and very knowledgeable.

Between the stationary glass door and the slider there is a seal to keep water in shower.

The moving panel must always be on the inside of the stationary panel. Many customers have a configuration such as yours and we either recommend tilting the shower head away from the door just a little bit, or purchasing a bypass shower door, such as the Essence (model SHDR-6348760-04). You can place that model number in the Home Depot search field and it will come up for you. If you have any other questions, please contact a DreamLine PreSales Consultant at 866-282-8413. Great product EXCEPT for fact that water will roll under the sliding door rather than fall to the shower floor. Any water hitting the glass pulls around lower edge and floods over the trim dam designed to prevent water exiting shower. Don't know if the square edge design of the glass could have been designed with tapered edges so that water will not divert to the outside of the door. Creates puddles outside door. Have to point shower head away from center of shower stall or flood exterior floor. It is one beautiful door without a frame. Knowing this flaw I would have selected another door.

This is a great: it is tall, very nice looking, has thick glass with coating and operates beautifully. Our opening is exactly 48" and the contractor cut off at least an inch of the guide rail. So I think it could go to 49" or a little more with no trouble. As others say, the walls must be plumb. This means walls intersecting the base at 90 degrees. If not the glass will angle away from the wall and create a gap. The walls must also be straight---if they bow in or out a gap will likewise appear. You could probably address small gaps on the fixed panel with caulk. There is a flexible soft bumper that goes on the wall side of the movable panel. It has a u-channel and slides on. By varying how far you push it on, you can accommodate some degree of out-of-plumb, I would say 1/4" for sure.

Installed Enigma-X shower doors in my guest bathroom. The doors are sleek looking and glide very smoothly. More than a year later, a guest told us there is water sipping under the movable door. I sent photos and videos of the problem to Dreamline customer service, as requested. I was told my door is missing a couple of parts. Somehow my professional installer did not notice this when it is clearly stated in the provided manual. Dreamline sent me the missing parts free! This awesome customer service convinced me to do business with them again. I just ordered Dreamline Essence tub doors for my next bathroom renovation. Looking forward to another beautiful bathroom. Keep up the excellent customer service!

LOVE these doors but have MAJOR safety concerns
I absolutely LOVED these doors! I have had them installed for 369 days and they have looked and performed amazingly. However tonight the door exploded, raining glass on my two year old, while in the shower, with nobody touching the door. I am clearly very emotional about this, but I am also a realist and do have to admit that the glass did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do. What could have been a tragedy ended up being only minor superficial scratches and cuts, none of them requiring more than a band-aid, the quality of this glass clearly saved my daughters life and for that I am extremely grateful. I have to assume that doors from a less reputable "bargain" manufacturer would have been a horrible horrible event. That being said, I am now left without a shower door on a unit that was installed less than a year ago (although purchased literally 1 year and 4 days ago). I have yet to speak to customer service but will be calling in the morning and hope that this will be handled professionally. Again, these doors are amazing, the quality and appearance is absolutely excellent, I love them and want them again, and they may have without exaggeration saved my daughters life. I hope I have as many nice things to say about the customer service as I do about the doors.

It is state of the art and looks very contemporary. If you read and get familiar with the parts and the directions (which are very clear) anyone that can read a tape measure and drill a hole and can follow directions can install this product. I followed the directions to the letter and had only one minor set screw adjustment to make.it looks and works great. I was curious as to why the stationary glass panel sits right on the threshold and up against the wall without any kind of rubber bumper strip. but you caulk it anyway so its no big deal. The glass is so heavy and is held at the bottom in two places, so its solid and ain't going anywhere. The door slides beautifully and is not flimsy. The various parts are machined beautifully and look high tech. Do not be afraid to buy this or install it yourself. I saved a good chunk of change by doing it myself, and I had never done one before.
