Hi Confused - this handrail and all Evermark Products are rated for indoor use only. This particular rail is also meant to secure to a wall opening. If you're wanting a freestanding with newels/balusters, you may need to look into a 6010 series handrail. Garages can flucuate in humidity and temperature, which may alter the products, which is why our products are not rated for outdoor use.
Do the mounting brackets come with?

Can these be cut to fit if I only need 6 ft?
Hi Dana, thanks for your question. Depending on your local store, these handrails can be cut to the length you need. Located in each is as "cut cart" that has a handsaw and surface on which you can cut our handrails. Since our rails are sold by the lineal foot, you can cut and purchase the exact length you need.
