Can you add an additional color of pigment into this?
    ByJul 4, 2023

    Answer This Question

Our products come as is, and we do not customize our products per request. Once you have completed all steps in the Acid Staining process, you can follow the exact same steps again, and apply a second coat of Acid Stain. Applying a second coat of acid stain without completing all steps as instructed can lead to undesired outcomes.

        Answer This Question

The Acid Stains can be diluted up to a 1:1 mix with water to reduce the amount of color produced. Always do a test area as concrete will vary in its reactivity and the color it generates.

Yes - Just mix one gallon of stain with one gallon of water to get a light garnet. Then, if perchance you want it darker just repeat the same application six hours later.

Will this product work on an exterior vertical concrete block retaining wall.
            ByOct 17, 2020

            Answer This Question

The Acid Stains will work on most types of uncoated concrete including concrete block. The color will vary due to mix design and a test area should be performed on the block to see if you get an acceptable color.

Do I need to use the etch & clean for newly poured and stamped concrete? If so, Do I apply in the same manor and the degreaser/neutralizer? Thanks

              Answer This Question

The Eagle Acid Stain needs to be applied to concrete that is a least 28 days old. The Etch & Clean will need to be used if the slab was power troweled. It is used to open the porosity floor to accept the stain.

In my use, YES. I etched more than the directions said to and the stain still did not take. I used probably 50/50 mix of water and etch and clean and let sit more than 5 minutes. After whole process the stain did not take and I was able to rub or scratch off. I read directions numerous times and watched videos.

How much do you charge to install acid stain floors

                  Answer This Question

We are a manufacturer, not an installer. We sell our stains as a DIY project. If you do not feel comfortable doing the project yourself, I would suggest searching for decorative concrete specialists in your area and get quotes from 2-3 different contractors.

                        Beautiful result
I followed the directions from a YouTuber and got perfect and beautiful results. I sealed with the Eagle solvent concrete sealer and the color deepened from red clay orange to a wonderful terra cotta. I love it!!!

This far exceeded our expectations! We didn't have a clue as to how it would turn out, our floor being 80 years old. We had to remove tiles, strip glue, diamond cut with a buffer, but it was all worth it. Proper prep is everything for a successful job. Follow the instructions to the Tee and your floor should have the same results

                          Glad I did it
The acid stain it self was very easy to apply. I bought the sprayer, but was able to apply it (I don't recommend this way, but it worked great) with a painting edger. The edger was originally just to do the edges, but then I realized that I could just pour the stain on the concrete and spread it with the edger. It worked for me. I will probably stain the outside concrete slab next, but will make sure to have the correct sprayer to make it easier. The cleaning was a bit more difficult than I thought, but not too horrible. Just very time consuming.

It turned out more like orange than garnet, so I came beck and stained it again with red to get the garnet color. Then it was OK.

Good stuff! I applied this to an 18 year-old driveway that had been previously stained (some 17 years ago). I pressure washed the driveway before application of this stain to remove any ground-in impurities and dirt. I applied the stain using a hand-held garden sprayer, and moved my arm in circular fashion as the stain was sprayed on to the surface. The results were amazing, our driveway looks fabulous! As the instructions note, staining a surface in this manner will result in a "marbled" look, and that's how ours appears, and that's the look I wanted. I should also note that if someone wants an even, flat look, staining may not be the proper thing to do. This is because the stain is affected by irregularities in the concrete (rough spots, smooth spots, spots previously fouled by oil, spots previously cleaned by mineral spirits, etc.). Put another way, the surface of a driveway is not the same over every square inch, and thus the stain will respond slightly differently to each different area. The differences are subtle, but they are there, and thus the end result is a "marbled" look.

Followed instructions to a T but it turned out more orange than brown and it took multiple rinses (4 and counting) to remove the excess residue. In fact it still gives off some if you rub your hand across it. Will wash it again this evening, wanting the residue to subside before sealing it.
