Can this be used for deck post bracing, the minimum specified is #2 or better SPF/cedar/oak etc 2x6 24" post to beam distance. This size meets the size requirements but is this product meant for structural application or just for looks?
Hello! Our Rustic Braces are made from solid wood (in this case western red cedar), but they haven't been formally tested like structural elements are. However, since they are solid wood products under normal situations they would be able to be used like traditional framing lumber is used. I would encourage you to speak with an onsite engineer to discuss your projects specific requirements.
Is this brace solid wood? How much weight can it hold?
Great question! Yes, these brackets are solid Douglas Fir. However, these brackets have not gone through formal testing so we do not have a load bearing rating on them yet. Under normal applications, they are more than sufficient. I would recommend that you consult an on site engineer, to discuss your specific projects requirement.
