You can certainly customize the placement of the mounting clips to suit your requirements, provided the panel is then installed as instructed and siliconed along the inside and outside of the enclosure for where the panel meets the floor and the wall. The GW instructions recommend the 8” and 70” placements purely for symmetry and aesthetics. Hello and thank you for your inquiry. All clear GW panels are treated on both sides with EnduroShield®, therefore all clear GW models are reversible making it possible for a left or right installation. The hinges do allow for the door to swing inwards and outwards, but the ILLUME/STELLAR model will come with a sweep that will affix to the outer edge of the fixed panel. This sweep will allow for the door to swing either in or out of the enclosure, depending on which way it is installed. It will not allow for the door to swing in both directions; however, you can choose not to install this piece and therefore the door will be operational in both directions. The sizes of the door and stationary panels will vary depending on what stock is available the time of receiving your order. Typically for the 56.25"" width, we would send a door (walk through) between 25.25" - 27.25" with a fixed or hinged panel (stationary) to suit between 30.5" to 28.5". The remaining 1/2" allocated to hardware. Please note that before ordering your GW shower enclosure it is essential your shower is tiled as your measurements will change once tiling and grout are in place. GW offers a unique modular system that is as close to a custom fit shower as possible without the high prices, this is why it is essential to only order once tiling is complete. If your enclosure is tiled and your minimum tile to tile width measurement is 58.44” then you would order the 58.25" model, GW-WH-58-25-MB. The rule when ordering a GW dual panel system is to not order anything above your minimum tile to tile width opening. If you order anything above your minimum width measurement the shower will not fit.
