Hello, Yes there is a set screw in the rod to hold the weathervane rod still and allowing the weathervane to spin.
How dose the weathervane anchor into the mounting barket.
It slides over the bracket post, and gravity holds it down. I used a little brake grease on the post so that it spins easily.
My metal roof has a 4 inch wide sheet metal circular "ridge pole" running the length of the building. By saying it is 5 inches wide, does it mean it will fit over the 4 inch wide sheet metal ridge? Anchoring it to solid rough cut oak 2X8 rafters ("rough cut" means the 2X8 really is 2 inches by 8 inches) will be no problem, I just need to know if the "5 inches wide" means the the base plate of the mount IS 5 inches wide allowing the mounting "leaves" to touch the roof where I can drill through to the rafters.
