What are the dimensions of the rod (stick)?
Stakes push 7.75 inches into the soil leaving 40 inches of trellis above the soil.
The below ground height is 7.75 inches and the above ground height is 40 inches.
What is the size of the openings in the netting?
I bought them to use them with my new fence. I have a large bush with holes in it and I didn’t want my dog to get out thruvtge hokes. The guards are great and very stable and easy to install. I have had them for about six months now and they are great and very easy to install

Product is described as "cedar trellis". But the pictures make it look like only the frame and spikes are wood. What material do the plants actually climb on? Metal? Plastic? String? The middle doesn't look like more wood, and my local store doesn't stock it or else I would go check in person.

A light metal that will bend fairly easily if you apply too much pressure. That being said, I was able to use a rubber mallet on the posts to drive them in a bit.
Can this be used as fencing for vegetable garden? Do they attach to each other?
I would not use them as fencing, more of support for decorative vines. Where there is a will, there's a way. I think they would beau difficult to securely attach to each other.
I zip-tied them together, but they do no attach independently
