The ANSI Z1245.1.2 standard requires a minimum load bearing capability of 300 lbs. +/- 5 lbs. You will want to take this into consideration when selecting a shower seat. I wish I have never bought this shower pan. It looks nice in the pictures, but in real use, it is horrible to keep clean under the drain cover. The cover is held in place with suction cups, which hold well to the fiberglass, but pull off the cover.

I know the answer, but you do have to cut the entire opening in your sub floor for the back drain to sit in?
Yes, you need to cut the groove to accept the trough, 6" wide by 2-1/2" deep, the entire length of the pan. Not recommended for retrofit installations on slab-on-grade construction, not on engineered wood truss construction.
