Yes, the frame is 100% composite. It will not rot, warp or split and is termite proof.

Can this be cut down substantially and still be insulated, waterproof, etc.? My door in the basement is very short, but a normal width. We need a new door, but want it to still be safe.

The distance between the bottom edge of the door to the bottom edge of the frame surrounding the glass insert is 36.25". The frame protrudes approximately 3/8".
From the bottom of the integral threshold (basically, the surface on which it is mounted... concrete floor) it is 39-15/16 inches to the bottom of the glass. The window trim protrudes 1/2"+/-
