Questions & Answers

I want to purchase the pneumatic ion battery framing nailer but it doesn’t come with a specified M18 Volt battery. I have other Milwaukee tools and they have M20 volt ion batteries. Can I use my 20 volt or does it HAVE to be the 18 volt.

Hey Matt! Looks like you missed the last digit but from what we found it would not, you would need an SDS-MAX Rotary Hammer.

SHOULD I LEAVE A LITHIUM BATTERY ON THE RECHARGER EVEN AFTER IT IS FULLY RECHARGED?
      ByFeb 25, 2025
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Hey Greg! Yes, you can leave a Milwaukee lithium-ion battery on the charger even after it is fully recharged. The charger will keep the battery pack fully charged if it is left on the charger. This is indicated by the continuous green light on the charger, which shows that the charging is complete and the battery is being maintained at full charge. However, as a general practice, it is recommended to unplug battery chargers and remove battery packs when not in use to ensure safety and longevity of the battery and charger.

I used it once and when removing the SDS bit it was covered in black greasy fluid and was also coming from the chuck. Is this normal?

        Answer This Question

Yes, that is normal. You are supposed to apply tool grease to the shank of impact bits. It protects them and the tool from excessive wear. It will heat up as you use it and it can dribble out.

Can you tell me what size cells are used in a 5 ah battery. And which batteries use the 21700 cells and not the 18650?

            Answer This Question

Hey Terry! The M18 5ah battery does use 18650 type cells and our High-Output packs utilize 21700 cells, hope this helps!

I have a milwaukee 2912-20 1" SDS Plus hammer drill. I am trying to determine the correct bushing bit to purchase. If SDS bits come in differing base connection sizes, what size do i need to look for in with any SDS bit?

              Answer This Question

For the Milwaukee 2912-20 1" SDS Plus Rotary Hammer, you can use the Milwaukee SDS-Plus Bushing Tool (SKU: 48-62-6020). This bushing tool is designed to work with SDS-Plus rotary hammers and is ideal for surface preparation applications.

Ah, the trusty old xc5.0 battery. Can you really believe it was released almost ELEVEN years ago? The old workhorse, stacking 2 parallel rows of 18650 cells (in contrast to the high output batteries using 21700 cells, capable of higher charging and discharge rates) in a decent housing. Home depot currently sells this for $159 a pop, though getting it bundled for free in a deal is not hard to come by. In contrast, the xc6.0 high output is usually around $179-$199, and is vastly superior. It runs cooler, charges faster (in rapid and superchargers), and has a longer life cycle. If you have a lot of m18 FUEL tools (which can take advantage of high output batteries), I would advise passing on this battery. If you just have a drill or impact driver and want to REALLY avoid shelling out the dough, then this might be for you. It works fine, but why settle when the NEW M18 FORGE is also around $199 each.

                  Destructive
My Milwaukee charging area was the cause of my shop to be destroyed by fire . Insurance was short on the rebuild along with over $300,000 of content not covered. Total of over $450,000 not covered. Milwaukee does not stand behind the liabilities connected to there product. No action from Milwaukee to sort this out.

                        2nd time buyer here!
This is a great rotary hammer. The 1" bit options are perfect for residential service work and light enough to stock on a service vehicle. This is my favorite drill for 5/8 wall anchors, since it retains the ability to effortlessly core a 2-1/2" service entry. Harry didn't always have a rotary hammer. He paid for his eduction with a hammer drill, and now his wrists hurt. People like working for Harry.

                          Eats Batteries
No where near claimed battery life! Brand new Milwaukee 3/4” 4 point rebar drilling masonry bit in green concrete poured 2 days prior, with a new HD12.0 battery that’s been discharged and charged 5 times you’ll only be able to drill 5 holes 3” deep. Hit just the edge of #4 rebar and it took two 12.0 and a 9.0 battery to drill that 1 hole, returned it. Buy a generator and corded drill for less $ than this with 12.0 batteries and be able to drill holes all day and night on 1 tank of gas.
