Q:Can I use it for laundry dryer vent?
by|Jun 18, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  If your dryer vent is ridgid metal or flexible metal then something like 3M foil tape is more appropriate. If you're just looking for something to attach a flex vent between the dryer and the wall metal dryer vent clamps would work best.

A:  nope poor adhesion

by|Jun 3, 2021

A:  Sure, in a pinch, but duct tape usually 'drys out,' becomes loose and detaches whereas tapes specifically made for dryer ducts hold and last longer, especially the foil tapes, which Home Depot sells several brands of that perform better. -IronForce All-Purpose Duct tape; Operating temperature 30 - 200 degrees F. -Nashua Tape 1.89 in. x 30 yd. -Dryer Vent Installation Tape; Minimum application temperature (F)-10, Maximum application temperature (F) 250, but more importantly Minimum hold temperature (F) -10 and a Maximum hold temperature (F) 250 So the dryer duct tapes have a greater temp rating but also last longer and are about the same price, some lower while the premium foil tapes cost more than IronForce All-Purpose.

A:  At a minimum, duct tape will work on a dryer vent hose...but I'd suggest using aluminum foil tape that's made specifically for that uze

Q:Could it be used for chimney direct vent pipes? I understand there might be another options for this type of project, but I'd like to know if this tape would be resistant to fire.

    Answer This Question

A:  For direct furnace pipes (air in and out) they are generally plumbed with PCV schedule 40 (rated to 140F) rigid pipes and fittings, they are solvent welded. Under ATSM (International Technical Technical Standards) consider PVC 'combustible'. It softens / melts about 220F, and looses structural integrity. I checked a small piece of this tape by lighting the edge with a match it will burn and sustain a flame, it does not self extinguish. I use it for HVAC air ducts to seal the joints.

    by|Oct 24, 2019

A:  i have no idea. one thing for sure the tape runs away because it doesn't stick. that would make it resistant to fire because it comes off as soon as you put it on

    by|Dec 28, 2022
    1 found this answer helpful

A:  No. Operating temp. 30 - 200 degrees F. (stated in the installation / assembly guide) There are much better tapes, like the foil tapes, but any has to be rated for use used regarding heat venting.

A:  I don't think it is resistant to fire. I didn't buy for that purpose, so can't say for sure?

      by|Jun 20, 2020

A:  I would never use this type of tape on chimney vent pipes.

        by|Jun 20, 2020

A:  No it sure s about fire resistant I would Contact the manufacturer direct! It’s sticks to stucco for sure and is very strong

Q:Would this tape work in a pinch to stop a leak in a vinyl pool?
          by|Jun 29, 2019
          5 Answers
          Answer This Question

A:  It may work but if it were me, I would use the underwater tape they advertise on TV. It can be applied under water. Regular duct tape is not meant for that purpose.

          by|Jul 1, 2019

A:  No. For a vinyl pool use a vinyl repair kit. Should be in the pool area at Home Depot.

            by|Nov 5, 2019

A:  I liked it because it is super strong and super sticky and it sticks to the floor really good

              by|Oct 25, 2019

A:  It appears that way because it's very sticky

This new pipe does not mate up to the Spee D catch basins and yet theres not catch basin that goes with this Advanced Draknage System. Whats so advanced if you dont have all thr components. Has to rig it up with sheet metal screws and tile tape. If youre not fojng carry all components them please being back the old schedule 40 4” pipe that works

                  1.89 in. x 35 yd. All-Purpose Heavy-Duty Duct Tape in Gray
Tape is tape, NOT SO ! The 1.89 in. x 35 yd. All-Purpose Heavy-Duty Duct Tape in Gray is an excellent tape. It is easy to peel and cut. After cutting it stays straight, does not curl and does not stick back to itself, it is ready to be applied. Also feels strong and looks great. The manufacturer claims this tape will adhere and stay adhered to cold or hot surfaces. Well "it does". I cut (2) two small pieces of sheet metal plates 4"x4". One went to my freezer (approx. temp 25DGF) for an of hour, the other to a preheated oven set at 130DGF for about (10) ten min. After removal from the freezer and oven, a piece of tape was applied to both of these surfaces and adhered well showing great resistance to removal. After a few minutes the plates with the tape were returned to the freezer for about an hour and to the oven for about (10) ten min. On both instances after removal from the freezer and oven the tape stayed in place and kept its resistance to removal. See attached images.

                  Some HEAVY duty duct tape!
I received this to do an honest evaluation, and I think I did. I don't use too much Duct tape, mostly because I like to fix things "correctly". However, in a pinch, you're gonna need some! This stuff is THICK and STRONG! I found a problem recently which doesn't really have a "correct" method of fixing, so out came this tape to save the day. Right away, it's thicker than normal duct tape, but tears the same and has the same stickiness. It doesn't stretch as much as you would think it would based on the feel or texture, but it definitely will conform to a shape slightly. Fixed my Vacuum attachment and holds up against the wedge pressure it needs to so that part doesn't fall to pieces again. The images show you the story.

I opened the tape this weekend with the intent of using it and found out that laterally, only 1/3 of the tape surface had adhesive on it. The roll is virtually worthless. I have added a photo of the roll.

                  35 Yards Of Stickyness
This is 35 yards of 15 mil thick easy tear duct tape. I have tried it on a few items now; but mainly I got it for a splintering broom handle and it worked perfectly. It tore off quick and straight! I wrapped it around the handle with one even layer and it did not bubble or wrinkle. It was exactly what I wanted. It held it together, gave in only slightly to pressure and was sticky. This was the first of many projects to come I think.

                  Strong Tape
I am trying this duct tape out on my outside pipes. The regular duct tape I have been using doesn't seem to last long. I first put the foam insulation for pipes on and then secure it with the duct tape, covering it completely. This area gets no sunshine but the regular duct tape doesn't seem to last long. This stuff feels a little more heavy duty, thicker, and sticks to itself pretty good. Will see how well it holds up to the weather.

Does what it is designed to do.
I've used some really sorry duct tape over the years and this is not one of them. It's duct tape and people expect a lot out of it. I am especially enthused by the fact that it actually states it is ALL-WEATHER. I can't begin to count the number of times I have found duct tape laying on the ground after falling off once it got wet. The verasity of that claim is to be seen. The thing that really impressed me was after being at work all day and having a nasty, oily forehead, I slapped a strip of tape across my noggin. Not only did it stick, it required a little yank to remove it. Not many tapes out there that would pass that test.

much stronger than regular duct tape, if you need it.
The tape was used to hold a fender in place. It works well.
