PORTER-CABLE's PUS38G staples are compatible with this staple gun.
The stapler is metal.
I bought mine to do upholstery work. It works great. I think it would work for insulation as well. The staples are narrow, I would try it on a lower pressure and work my way up.
My answer to using the stapler to attach batt insulation is mixed. First, technically yes, it would staple through the batt paper and into the studs. But, these 22ga staples are so small that you would have to use a lot of them to hold the batts securely. Otherwise, they might tear through the batt paper. They will probably be able to hold the batts okay if you install the sheetrock wallboard very soon after, as the wallboard would then act to hold the batts as well. I also would advise putting the wallboard up more quickly if you're putting the batts in the ceiling, since the weight of the batts would make it tear through easier. So, yes, I believe the stapler could be used if the work proceeds quickly and you use enough staples.
I bought one to do upholstery on anything. It will drive a staple into plastic. But not into fiberglass. It's a decent staple gun, especially for the price
The correct answer is that I don't really know if 20ga staples will work. But, in my experience, I tried to use some staples that didn't say 22ga and they would not fit into the stapler. So, I doubt if the 20ga Senco's will fit unless they happen to be the same width and size of the 22ga. But, 22ga staples were not expensive or hard for me to find.
The US58 is compatible with the Senco "C" type 22 Ga 3/8" crown staples from 1/4" to 5/8" long.
No, the US58 does not have a longer nose available.
No, the nose is fixed lenght.
No it doesn't. I just check the box it came in. It does however work great for upholstery.
No, it does not include a case.
Yes, mine came with a case and included a few pin nails and eye protection glasses.
No....You can not buy a case from Porter Cable. I purchased a small aluminum case from Harbor Freight Tools. The stapler, staples, staple remover and etc. Fit in the case.
No. Just save the cardboard box and liner it comes in and use that.
The US58 uses 3/8" crown staples in sizes : 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8".
Yes it works great.
