About This Product
This chain door guard is constructed of a steel chain, diecast housing, plate and keeper, and it comes in brass-plated finish. This lock engages by allowing the bolt to slide into the keyed mechanism to lock, and it uses a B1 keyway, ILCO (1098M). This chain door lock allows a door to open slightly for safe viewing and ventilation. Installation of this lock placed out of children’s reach will help prevent them from opening a door themselves to enter or exit into dangerous areas. All installation fasteners are included, and it can be used on a variety of door types, on or beside the door casing.

Does it matter what way the door opens

WHEN THE CHAIN LOCK IS INSTALLED WITH KEY WHAT IS THE DISTANCE BETWEEN DOOR JAMB WITH DOOR FULLY OPENED? ANY OTHER WAY TO INSTALL FOR LARGER GAP TO MANUEVER HAND?
Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. The only distance measurement that be given is for the length of the chain. It is 8"L. You would have to use you own discretion to determine how close to the edge of the door jamb to install the lock base.
Is the chain long enough when installed on the inside of a room to be able to lock it from the outside? Is there enough space to put your hand in?

How do I get extra keys? I have gone to several hardware stores including Home Depot where I purchased this product but they did not have a blank to make another key.
